Internet users 'flocking to YouTube' for information Website design expert recommends video as marketing tool.
Video productions on YouTube are becoming increasingly important as internet users are bypassing search engine and heading straight to the video streaming sites for information.
That is according to Daniel Gilbert, chief executive of Aurora Information Technology, a medical website design company.
"Visitors are flocking to YouTube in growing numbers to search for information instead of using a traditional search engine," he said.
In addition, search engines tend to place video productions near the top of search results, making them ideal for search engine optimisation, he claims.
"The fact is that search engines love putting videos in search results, with YouTube garnering the highest results," said Mr Gilbert.
He added that the potential of videos to go viral, where they rapidly spread across the internet through being shared among different sites and internet users, is one of the biggest draws of the medium.
His views echo those of small business expert Steve Strauss, who recently wrote in USA Today that video was one of the best ways to attract visitors to a website and get them to stay there for a longer period of time.
