Google likes 'large websites' expert claims Search engine optimisation continues to be important for British businesses
British retail outlets are increasingly succeeding in optimising their websites to appear well on search rankings.
That is according to marketing agency Greenlight, which discovered that nearly a third of white goods e-retailers had managed to achieve greater than ten per cent visibility across search engines.
Sam Tilston, online marketing director for website zoombits.co.uk suggested that large websites benefit the most.
"The more products you have, the more pages you have on your website, so you can use each page," he said.
"For example, if you look at large-product sites, each page is exactly the same apart from product, product description and image, so it's essentially one page really, just with 10,000 variable bits of data."
A report by Econsultancy and Guava earlier this year found that 45 per cent of companies are increasing their budgets for paid searches, while 11 per cent were decreasing them.
