Google auto-translation to impact video SEO? New tool could enable websites to appeal more to foreign internet users.
Video production users may have to take into account foreign visitors to their websites as part of their search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy thanks to a new tool from Google.
The search engine giant has announced it is to launch a new auto-translation service through its Chrome internet browser.
If the new feature takes off, it may make it easier for online companies to attract internet users through foreign countries.
However, Sam Tilston, SEO expert and marketing director for Memorybits.co.uk, claims this will mean foreign languages will need to be incorporated into SEO strategies.
"If auto-translation takes off, which I think it will, it will still be necessary for sites to be found by foreign users in order to be translated. For this reason SEOs will have to take into account the fact that their sites could gain additional traffic if they enable their search to be found in China," he said.
The latest figures from Internet World Statistics reveal that English is the most spoken language among internet users with 478 million, followed by Chinese language speakers, who make up 384 million.
