Google Voice could transform video production SEO says expert New voice recognition technology from Google could change SEO for online video, it has been claimed.
Google's new Google Voice search function could have a big impact on search engine optimisation (SEO) for companies using online video productions, an expert has claimed.
The new technology, currently only available on a limited roll-out, incorporates voice and sound recognition, which can then be used to enter search terms.
Andreas Pouros, chief operations officer for SEO consultants Greenlight, said that this could mean companies will have to reconsider their approach to online video.
"Search engine optimisation will now need to start looking at optimising not only the textual content of a page but also the content of sound and video clips, to communicate to Google that the page and/or content is relevant for particular themes and queries."
He also claimed that if the technology was combined with Google Local, which uses GPS to locate points of interest close to a mobile phone user, then it could result in people being able to "practically have a conversation with Google" about facilities near to them such as restaurants.
Recent research by market analysts Covario revealed that Paid search advertising spend is expected to increase by 14 to 18 per cent in 2010.
