Google Social Search to change video SEO? New search tool displays results from friends' online content.
Last week (January 27th), Google announced it has fully rolled out its Social Search function from the experimental Google Lab to its main search engine.
It is believed by one expert that this move could significantly alter search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques, which may include video.
Tim Gibbon, the co-founder and editor of the Social Media Portal said: "This move will certainly be of interest to search marketers, SEO specialists in particular.
"Brands and agencies alike have been fixated with maximising the use of content to improve search ranking and more recently through Google's Universal Search where images and video are displayed within search results."
Social Search works by displaying relevant web content from friends and online contacts.
However, users can control how much of their online information can be seen and by whom by creating a Google profile and managing links to other social websites such as Facebook and YouTube.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced at the end of last year that there are now 350 million worldwide users of the social networking site.
