Expert recommends video to boost SEO Universal search means marketers need to use a variety of content in SEO strategy, says expert.
Incorporating video into a multi-channel marketing approach will increase search engine optimisation (SEO) success, an expert has claimed.
Writing for SearchEngineWatch.com, chief executive of Symetri Internet Marketing Ron Jones, highlighted the growing importance of universal search to SEO.
Universal search is the technique used by search engines such as Google to bring a variety of information to search results, such as video, images, blog posts and news.
Mr Jones said that companies launching new products should do more than merely adding text and pictures about the item to their website.
"Take it much further," he said. "Add a press release and post to PR sites for promotion. Then add a blog post. Produce a short video about the product and post accordingly. Go beyond your website and push this content into various social media channels."
This week, a study by Motorola found that over half (52 per cent) of the UK population watches streamed video, while 29 per cent frequently download video content from the internet.
