Businesses should seek to boost their rankings in local search results, it has been claimed - something video productions could be useful in achieving.
According to Sally Ormon of Briar Copywriting, firms seeking to gain a strong online presence should aim to appear near the top of the page when web users conduct a search for local results.
One way that she recommends to do this is by incorporating video productions into a search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy.
"Video marketing is a great tool to use and, so long as your tag is localised, you could easily get your website and video high up in the rankings. And of course, the more positions on the front page of Google you own, the less there are available for your competitors," she comments.
Her other tips include adding specific location details into page title HTML and to take advantage of services such as Google Places and Yahoo Local, which offer local listings.
Recent data suggests that the internet use is now becoming increasingly common among a wider range of demographics.
The latest figures from Nielsen's UK online audience measurement service reveals that one quarter of all UK-based web users are more than 50-years-old.
