Content needs to be unique to boost SEO, claims expert Only unique and valuable content will attract viewers' attention, it has been claimed.
Website content such as video productions designed to increase search engine optimisation (SEO) must be unique to succeed, an expert has claimed.
Jill Kocher, SEO manager at voucher website Groupon.com, says that content must be unique and provide value to internet users in order to attract an audience and links from other sites.
"If the audience doesn't get value from the content, they will not feel compelled to give value to the site in the form of links, comments, reviews, 'Likes' and other forms of participation that add uniqueness or popularity to a site," she says in an article for practicalecommerce.com.
She also suggests that content should be used to promote a specific product where possible, with links to details on that product incorporated into the content.
"If the content is a video clip of a cat going crazy over a toy and the site sells that toy, for goodness sake put a bar of similar products with images and 'Buy' buttons right there on the video page," she writes.
It was recently reported that AOL has redesigned its news website with a new focus on video productions.
