Boost video SEO using social media Providing blogs with good content they can link to will increase SEO, says TechRadar.
Websites using videos and other media can boost search engine optimization (SEO) by using social networks, it has been claimed.
According to TechRadar.com, Google and other search engines will rank pages higher if they have other sites linking to them.
The effect is even more pronounced if the linking sites have a big web influence, for example popular blogs and Twitter feeds.
One of the ways companies can do this is to provide blogs with content they can use, such as videos.
"Build relationships with them, give them good content to link to and you've got an entire network of people within a niche to connect with," said Jaamit Durrani, the website's SEO expert.
As an example, the website cites Sony's Bravia TV advert featuring thousands of coloured balls bouncing down the hills in San Francisco.
TechRadar said that Sony invited bloggers to the filming of the advert and gave them a free TV. This in turn gave Sony plenty of social media links and they rose in search listings as a result.
Recently, Google's president of global sales operations and business development Nikesh Arora predicted growth in online advertising in the coming years, Reuters reported.
"The one big shift we're going to see in the next three to five years is going to be video advertising," he said.
