iPad sales could signify future of online video productions Apple device sells 300,000 units in first day of release.
The popularity of Apple's new iPad tablet computer could open up opportunities for companies that use online video productions.
Having gone on sale in the US on April 3rd, the device, which could lead to greater use of mobile internet and so expose more people to online video, sold over 300,000 units in its first day.
This is around 30,000 more than the hugely successful iPhone sold in its first 24 hours.
Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said: "It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world - it's going to be a game changer.
"iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad."
The device has been billed as an even more portable alternative to laptops, offering touch screen technology and so negating the need for a keyboard.
Paddy Smith, online deputy editor at Stuff.tv, said that the fact Apple had released the figures so quickly showed how happy they were with the sales results.
The iPad is scheduled for a UK release later this month, though no specific date has been given.
