YouTube video productions help Oxfam 'amplify' appeals Charity using social media to boost fundraising appeals.
Oxfam has credited YouTube video productions and other social media with increasing the scope of its fundraising appeals.
The charity said that using social media had allowed it to reach more people in the immediate aftermath of a crisis, such as the recent Haiti earthquake.
Andrew Coombes, senior digital press officer at Oxfam GB, said services such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube had helped it to "amplify" its appeal for fundraising in the wake of the disaster.
"The speed in which we were able to deliver our messages across these services was intrinsic in raising public awareness and engagement in the immediate aftermath of an earthquake that affected hundreds of thousands of Haitians," he said.
"They also made us accountable to members of the public, from whom we draw such strong support."
At least 217,000 people are believed to have died in the Haiti earthquake, which struck on January 12th this year.
