YouTube trials live video production platform Successful trial could see full roll-out of live video streaming on YouTube.
An experimental trial into live video streaming has been launched by YouTube.
The video sharing site has teamed up with four new media partners to begin a two-day trial starting today (September 13th) that will see a new platform for viewing live clips created.
Content providers participating are celebrity video producer Young Hollywood, online television outlet Next New Networks, how-to guide Howcast and internet culture vlog Rocketboom.
Speaking to the Associated Press, YouTube product manager Josh Siegel said: "This is just an initial trial, a first step. We're going to look at a whole bunch of data about the performance of our new platform and then, based on that, make decisions about how we'll open it up, with the goal of opening it up to all of our partners over time."
YouTube has previously streamed a number of live events including sport and concerts.
Last week, YouTube owner Google announced that its Google TV project, which aims to bring internet video productions to TV sets, will be released globally next year.
