YouTube to allow unlisted video productions New feature could be of particular use for those wishing to share educational video productions.
Companies interested in using video productions posted on YouTube have now been given more options by the video streaming site.
It has added a feature whereby videos can be left unlisted, meaning they do not show up on search results or any other public page and cannot be accessed by anyone without a link to the clip.
This may be of particular use to those wishing to post educational video productions for students that they do not want shared across the internet, YouTube suggests.
Previously, YouTube users could choose to set videos to private whereby they could be shared with a selected maximum of 25 other users of the site.
But the new feature has no upper limit. Upon uploading a video a link will be created which can then be sent to as many people as the poster wishes, whether or not they have YouTube accounts.
Three in every four online videos viewed by users in the United States is watched on YouTube, according to the latest data compiled by ComScore.
