YouTube and CNN to host live climate debate Expert panel will answer questions on climate change uploaded onto YouTube by the general public.
The full scope of online video production will be exploited by news channel CNN and YouTube to host a live video debate on climate change.
The debate uses a dedicated YouTube channel where people can upload questions to be put to an expert panel that includes Kofi Annan, the former UN secretary general and founder of the Tck Tck Tck campaign.
Set to take place next Tuesday (December 15th), the event coincides with the UN conference on climate change in Copenhagen. YouTube users will have until December 14th to upload their questions.
Mike McCarthy, vice president of coverage and feature programming for CNN International, said. "Working with YouTube continues our commitment to innovative programming that gives our global audience a voice on crucial issues."
The hour-long debate will be broadcast on YouTube on Tuesday and then at several times on CNN International in the following few days.
Last month, YouTube launched a new service for journalists. YouTube Direct allows media organisations to request and rebroadcast clips directly from YouTube users.
