Web video productions 'fuelling innovation' Sharing of web videos inspires others to improve on new ideas, it has been claimed.
Video productions on the internet can be a great educational tool as they inspire innovation, it has been claimed.
Chris Anderson, curator of TED, a non-profit organisation that aims to spread knowledge and ideas through talks and conferences, argues that online video sites like YouTube have helped advance new ideas and learning.
In an article for CNN, Mr Anderson claims that, as videos on the internet are viewed by many different people, it allows innovative ideas to be shared with others, who then seek to improve on the original concept.
"Someone sees a video with 50,000 views and thinks, 'That's awesome, I'll copy it and take it to the next level.' They emulate, then they innovate, and the bar gets raised again and again," he writes.
He added that, since TED talks started being posted online, speakers have improved as it is easier for them to learn from each other, while also motivating them to stand out.
Although based in New York, TED holds a global conference in Oxford each summer.
