Video production viewing on mobiles sees massive rise Number of people watching video on mobiles soars 75 per cent in a year
The number of people watching video productions on mobile devices has risen dramatically in the UK during the past year.
According to new figures from comScore, 2.7 million people now watch videos via smartphones and other mobile devices, a rise of 75 per cent on last year.
A similar pattern was seen across Europe's other major economies with Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the UK seeing an average rise in mobile video consumption of 66 per cent.
Of those nations, Spain saw the fastest growth at 90 per cent.
"The era of 'video-on-the-go' has finally arrived," commented comScore European vice-president of mobile Jeremy Copp.
"We've seen major developments throughout the mobile space - in networks, in devices and in software and applications - and now we're seeing the result: a rapidly growing audience of consumers accessing video on their mobiles."
Earlier this year, comScore released figures showing the UK has an estimated 11.1 million smartphone users.
