Technology having a 'massive impact' on education Children have access to more information thanks to technology such as YouTube, an expert has said.
New technology, such as educational video productions, is vastly improving the learning experience for UK school children.
That is according to Andy Mitchell, assistant chief executive of The Design and Technology Association, who claims that advances in ICT is having a "massive impact" on education.
"They've got access to much more information at their finger tips than they've ever had before," he said.
Video production websites such as YouTube can be one of the ways technology can aid education, and this makes firewalls a big issue in modern classrooms, says Mr Mitchell.
"I was listening to a headteacher talking yesterday and he was completely against having firewalls in the schools because in most schools you can't access YouTube for instance," he commented.
Earlier this year, BECTA, the government body which promotes technology in learning, launched its Home Access programme, which provides grants for computer and internet access to low income families.
