Superfast broadband could extend reach for educational video productions Spread of high-speed internet could benefit those in rural communities, it is claimed.
Educational video productions may find a new audience if superfast broadband is rolled out across the UK, it has been claimed.
According to the Communications Consumer Panel, an independent, policy advisory body on consumer interests in telecommunications, an increase in the use of high-speed internet could benefit those in rural communities.
A spokesperson for the organisation said: "[Superfast broadband] could ... bring new ways for people and teachers to access education materials and help lifelong learning."
It follows recently published figures from broadband websource Point Topic, which suggest high-speed internet will grow rapidly across the UK by 2014.
"The internet has already brought about a revolution in informing citizens and making available information and making public and other services more accessible to many more people," the spokesperson said.
The new coalition government has announced it is to consider using part of the TV licence fee to fund superfast broadband in areas the market is unlikely to reach.
