School turns to online video productions in fight for survival Special school makes YouTube video to gain support in fight to prevent closure.
A school is hoping to take advantage of the potential of online video productions as it tries to prevent its closure.
Epinay Enterprise School, a special school in Jarrow, is fighting for survival following a shake-up in the local education system which could see it shut down.
It is now turning to video production streaming site YouTube to get its campaign message across.
The video production features the message "Epinay Must Stay" written in a variety of forms throughout the school.
"I hope that with just one day of filming, the cruel decision to axe the school will be overturned for the sake of future generations of pupils with special needs in the borough," said headteacher Hilary Harrison
"We had our first screening of the finished viral petition in our assembly just a couple of weeks ago and there was not a dry eye in sight."
YouTube is becoming an increasingly vital tool for schools. The site recently announced that it now has over half a million people described to its education channel.
