Law firms urged to make use of corporate video productions Expert in the use of IT in the legal profession says law firms need to embrace technology to become more accessible to the public.
Law firms have been urged to modernise and embrace new technology, which could include corporate video productions, to cut costs and increase accessibility.
In an article in the Times, Richard Susskind, an expert and author on the use of IT in the law industry, argues that the Law Society is behind the times when it comes to technology.
He criticises a recent document from the Law Society, entitled Access to Justice Review, for not exploring adequately ways in which law firms can modernise their working practices.
"Three of four UK homes have computers and 1.4 billion people use the internet worldwide, yet the society devotes just half a page of 60 to technology," he writes.
"To equip citizens, improved public legal education and richer online legal resources are needed."
The Law Society is representative body for solicitors in England and Wales. It helps with negotiating and lobbying the profession's regulators and government and offers training advice.
