Video production companies could benefit from the addition of Kindle reader apps with sound and video to a selection of Apple products.

The iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch will now all offer the video-friendly apps as a result of Amazon – creator of the Kindle – making changes to its eReading apps.

Owing to the popularity of the Apple technology and the Kindle, the development could present an opportunity for firms to present corporate video on a multi-platform basis.

Dorothy Nicholls, Amazon's director of Kindle, said that the web-based company was excited at the development but remained adamant that this was simply the "beginning".

She said "We are excited to add this functionality to Kindle for iPad and Kindle for iPhone and iPod Touch.

"This is just the beginning - we look forward to seeing what authors and publishers create for Kindle customers using the new functionality of the Kindle apps."
