ITV adds online video productions to World Cup coverage Broadcaster to use 'dual-screen' approach for World Cup in South Africa.
Online video productions are to form a major part of ITV's coverage of this summer's World Cup, it has been announced.
The broadcaster is to post live video streaming of matches as well as highlights on its website as part of a new initiative called ITV Live.
In addition, the platform will provide up-to-date information and statistics on the tournament and incorporate social media access so that fans can discuss matches as they happen.
The approach has been dubbed 'dual-screen' as it is expected many viewers will watch games on their TVs while simultaneously using the internet site.
"Dual-screen has been a priority for ITV.com over the last 12 months and ITV Live is the exciting result of our exploration into how our users want to interact with big events simultaneously on the television and online," said ITV director of online Ben McOwen Wilson.
The Fifa World Cup, which will be held in South Africa, gets underway in Johannesburg on June 11th.
