Hotels losing sales due to poor websites Consumers often find websites do not provide clear information, says report.
Video productions could be used to improve the websites of hotel chains following claims they are losing out on sales because of a poor online presence.
According to the latest Online Hotel Marketing Report from Halpern Cowan, top-end hotels are losing out on sales because of badly designed websites, New Media Age reports.
It found that key failings included a lack of readably available information and confusion of pricing and booking procedures.
In general, it was reported that budget hotel chains tended to perform better when it comes to their websites compared to their upmarket competitors.
Louis Halpern, chief executive of Halpern Cowan, told the news provider: "With one in three Britons booking their holidays online, consumers have grown increasingly demanding about finding the deal they want as easily as possible.”
"Hotel brands need to ensure their sites not only reflect their brand values clearly but that there's no opportunity for confusion."
According to Race Online 2012, the UK has some of the world's most sophisticated internet users with 58 per cent having made a transaction online.
