A former Disney special effects expert has shown how technical expertise along with a simple idea can cause an internet video sensation.

American Ric Turner's home video Christmas Light Hero has gone viral on YouTube and, as of December 15th, attracted over 460,000 hits since being posted last Thursday (December 10th).

The video shows a version of the computer game Guitar Hero being played using a giant Christmas lights display on Mr Turner's garage door replacing the usual TV screen.

"Christmas Light Hero is using seven light controllers from Light-O-Rama built from kits to control 21,268 lights and LEDs," explained Mr Turner on makezine.com.

"To programme the show a video recording was made of a perfect round of Guitar Hero playing Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover. The timing of all the dots and the light show choreography follow that video"

Last week TV channel Current TV announced what it considers to be the best viral videos of all time. Number one on the list was Kersal Massive, a group of wannabe rappers from Salford.ADNFCR-2863-ID-19513099-ADNFCR
