Google to bring online video productions to TV A new service from Google aims to integrate the web with TV.
A new project by Google to integrate the web with television could vastly increase the use of online video productions.
The search giant has announced Google TV, an interface based on its Chrome operating system, which allows for the navigation of both web and TV through the same application.
For example, users can enter keywords into a Google-style search box displayed on the television which can be used both to find a TV programme or a web page.
"Google TV uses search to give you an easy and fast way to navigate to television channels, websites, apps, shows and movies," Salahuddin Choudhary, Google TV product manager, said on the company's blog.
"Want to check out that funny YouTube video on your 48" flat screen? It's just a quick search away."
Google is teaming up with Sony and Logitech to build the new product directly into TVs, Blu-Ray players and set-top boxes.
A number of other companies have recently announced products to bring the internet to TV sets, including Google rival Yahoo!
