Educational video productions to teach children cook New website provides resource for teachers to educate children about food.
A new website has been launched that uses educational video productions to help teach children to cook.
The PlanetCookClub.com site is the product of children's TV production company Platinum Films and the Foods Standards Agency (FSA).
It provides teachers with resources including video clips, lesson plans and interactive content, which are designed to help young children learn how to choose, cook and eat safe, healthy food.
Inspired by the Channel 4 TV show Planet Cook, it uses the FSA's food competences and looks at all aspects of food including nutrition, shopping and handling produce.
In addition, children can access the information directly through the 'game quest' area of the site.
By completing different games children are rewarded with an 'Info-Bite' which teaches them about different cooking techniques.
During the games they also have the opportunity to find recipes that they can share with friends and family.
Tesco recently launched its Real Food website that also uses video clips to teach visitors cooking skills.
