Educational video production has 'major impact' on tourists Tourists have been swayed by an educational video production in Canada.
An educational video production aimed at pushing an environmental agenda has had a major impact on the opinions of it its target audience, it has been reported.
Launched last month, the Rethink Alberta campaign aims to highlight the damage done by major oil sands projects in the Canadian province.
A survey by Angus Reid has since discovered that the campaign video, which is available to view on YouTube, has made a notable impression on its viewers.
The poll found that before watching the ad, 54 per cent of British and 49 per cent of American tourists said they would consider visiting Alberta but after viewing it, the numbers fell sharply to 24 per cent and 26 per cent, respectively.
Mario Canseco, Angus Reid's vice-president of public affairs, commented: "The effect of the ads to those who have been exposed to it is devastating."
He added that the video has so far been viewed by approximately 18,000 people.
The Alberta government has said that the campaign is riddled with misinformation about the oilsands' environmental record.
