Channel 5 to bring online video productions to Facebook The rebranding of Channel 5 continues as it moves online video services to Facebook.
Channel 5 is set to become the first UK terrestrial broadcaster to embed online video productions on Facebook.
The two companies have reportedly reached a deal that will see the social networking site host Channel 5's TV-on-demand player.
It means that Facebook's 26 million UK users will now be able to watch Channel 5's TV catch-up content including The Gadget Show, CSI Miami, Neighbours and Home & Away.
New Media Age has quoted sources close to the development as claiming that the deal is "all systems go", with the player already being embedded into Facebook and expected to launch "within the next week to ten days".
The move follows a recent takeover of the channel by media mogul Richard Desmond who has confirmed plans to scrap the broadcaster's "Five" branding and on-screen logo and reinstate the its original launch name of Channel 5.
Mr Desmond is already implementing a major shake-up of his new acquisition, including a £20 million cost-cutting drive and up to 80 job losses.
