The growing cultural influence of online video productions and video sharing site YouTube has been highlighted by indie rock band Arcade Fire.

It has been announced that the Canadian group are to broadcast an upcoming concert live on the Google-owned site, Consequence of Sound reports.

The band will post a feed of their August 5th gig at New York's Madison Square Gardens, allowing fans across the world to witness the event.

To promote the occasion, Arcade Fire has released a new video for their song Rococo – a previously unheard track taken from their forthcoming album The Suburbs.

Formed in 2003, Arcade Fire are based in Montreal, Quebec, and are fronted by the husband and wife duo of Win Butler and Regine Chassagne.

At a recent concert, the band announced they would match donations made by their fans, up to a value of C$1 million (£630,000), to the Haiti aid charity Kanpe.
