Adobe calls truce on video production format war with Apple "HTML5 is great" says Adobe's chief technology officer.
Adobe has voiced its support for HTML5, a new format for displaying online video productions in web browsers.
HTML5 had previously been seen as a rival to Adobe's own Flash product which as long been the dominant force in internet video players.
And the company has been locked in a feud with technology giant Apple in recent months over the use of Flash on its products.
Apple has decided not to make Flash video productions compatible with its new iPad, instead choosing to back HTML5, leading to a war of words between the two companies.
But now adobe seems to be burying the hatchet by declaring its support of the new format.
"HTML5 is great," Adobe chief technology officer Kevin Lynch told software developers at Google's I/O conference.
"It's really fun to see new technologies come out like this. Of course, we work on a variety of technologies at Adobe. Today, we want to focus on HTML5."
Google recently announced it was introducing a new video format of its own called WebM.
