AOL agrees new video production deal with Google Internet portal to provide video content for YouTube.
Search engine Google has entered a new agreement with internet portal AOL which will see the latter provide video productions for Google-owned YouTube.
The arrangement is a renewal and expansion of a long-standing deal between the two companies that sees Google supply search services for AOL's sites.
However, the deal has now been extended to not only cover a YouTube video content partnership but also cooperation on mobile internet search and content.
"We're excited to deepen our partnership. This agreement combines Google's expertise in search and advertising with AOL's strength in online content," said Eric Schmidt, chairman and chief executive of Google.
"It's particularly exciting to see our relationship expand into video and mobile. These areas are now at the heart of users' online experiences and at the core of both of our businesses."
Earlier this month, AOL announced a revamp of its news information site with a renewed focus on video productions - including live streaming from prominent TV news channels such as the BBC.
